Projects

The UWC mission is to use education as a force to unite people for a peaceful and sustainable future. As the Nordic UWC, we strive to go beyond our campus and reach out through the Nordic region into the wider world.

Working with our Nordic supporters and partners, our staff and students develop projects to

  • improve education opportunities for people who are under-privileged due to poverty, sickness or disability;
  • help people from different backgrounds to understand each other to reduce prejudice and conflict;
  • increase awareness of such Nordic values as equality, human rights and environmentalism.

Fredskorpset - Sahanor Project

This new project, begun in 2008, living and working in the harsh conditions of the refugee camps in the Sahara desert, puts the UWC ideals into practice.

Fredskorpset participants have the potential to be agents for change, both locally and nationally: they act as ambassadors for their home countries, and bring back home new understanding and perspectives from their host country.
